By the end of April, each team must decide if they would like to extend their season for an extra 6 weeks and play in the AAU National Championships. If your team has least 8 players who agree to extend the season then we will make it happen.

This optional extension includes 1 additional tournament in Emerson, GA at the LakePoint facility on May 30th and 31st as well. This is so the teams can stay fresh and focused all the way through to the AAU’s.

Fury Volleyball Club Q&A …

Question

A.) What does the letter U mean after the age bracket numbers? For example 14U

B.) How do I know what age group my daughter will play in?

Answer

In the example “14U” the number 14 refers to the age division and the letter U stands for “under” so it’s called the “14 and under” division or “14U.” The reason for this is to remind everyone that younger players are allowed to play up with older players if their talent allows. For example, you could have a 12 year-old playing on a 14U team but you could not have a 14 year-old playing on a 12U team.

Use the chart below to determine which Age Division you are qualified to play for…

AGE DIVISIONS BIRTH DATE
10U Division (10 and under) (Born between 9/1/2009 – 8/31/2010)
11U Division (11 and under) (Born between 9/1/2008 – 8/31/2009)
12U Division (12 and under) (Born between 9/1/2007 – 8/31/2008)
13U Division (13 and under) (Born between 9/1/2006 – 8/31/2007)
14U Division (14 and under) (Born between 9/1/2005 – 8/31/2006)
15U Division (15 and under) (Born between 9/1/2004 – 8/31/2005)
16U Division (16 and under) (Born between 9/1/2003 – 8/31/2004)
17U Division (17 and under) (Born between 9/1/2002 – 8/31/2003)

Question

What is the difference between SMACK and POWER?

Answer

We take great pride in the many unique features of Fury Volleyball Club. From the environment, to the philosophy, to the culture, to the player/coach high-bar expectations, we are clearly different at every turn. Our Inaugural team structure is no different. Enter the two-headed monster that we call SMACK and POWER!

SMACK and POWER represent the 22 best players that Fury has to offer in each of our lower age Divisions (12U, 13U, 14U). We practice together, we Performance train together, we travel together, and we play in the same tournaments together. As players grow and develop throughout the season, they may be asked to shift their roles from one position to another, or from one team to another (either SMACK or POWER). Our goal as a Club is to place 2 highly competitive teams on the court at each tournament with the expectation of a top 3 finish in 2 different tournament brackets.

This unique inter-club competitive structure will prevent the same players from sitting the bench over and over again at every tournament, and it will enable the faster-developing players to climb to the top without being hindered by “what team they made” during a 2 day tryout period. This type of structure is also a HUGE motivator for those players who would normally become complacent halfway through the season!

Player characteristics that are considered before rostering each tournament are; player position, player chemistry, effort level, passion for the game, attitude, sportsmanship, ability to listen and follow directions, playing ability, attendance, level of focus, leadership skills, communication skills, etc.

Question

Is FURY Volleyball Club a non-profit organization?

Answer

Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.

Question

What is a Float Coach?

Answer

A Float Coach is a coach who is not designated to a specific team within the club. Instead, these coaches “float” from team to team helping in whatever capacity is necessary at any given time. They are our internal support staff, and they play a HUGE role in the efficiency of the club and our ability to keep costs as low as possible.

Question

What additional fees can parents/players expect to incur outside of the dues and fees listed on this page?

Answer

All Fury Club participants should be prepared to incur the following expenses during the course of the season:

For travel games: hotel/lodging, personal transportation

For all games: tournament entry fees and/or parking fees

All players should expect to pay league membership dues for the AAU league and the USAV/SRVA league. For the AAU league the cost is $14 for the season, and the for the USAV/SRVA league, the cost and procedure has not been finalized yet for the upcoming season, but we believe it will be in the neighborhood of around the same cost as the AAU’s. If you are registered for our tryouts, you can expect to receive detailed step-by-step instructions for both league membership registrations between October 1st and October 5th which is when the USAV/SRVA league is expected to open up the registrations to players.

Question

How many hotel nights does the Club season require and do we get a bulk discount?

Answer

Fury 12U-17U Club participants will play in 4 travel tournaments during the regular season. 3 out of those 4 tournaments are within 3-4 hours drive time from Woodstock. Families who are willing to travel early Saturday morning can probably get away with Saturday night lodging only. Others may be interested in traveling on Friday and securing lodging for 2 nights. The 4th tournament (in Louisville, KY) is a 3 day tournament that most likely requires a minimum of a 3 night stay. If you do not want to drive 6 hours home after the last day of the tournament, then you may need 4 nights.

Optional Disney/AAU Tournament: This is a 4 day tournament that most likely requires a minimum of a 4 night stay. If you do not want to drive 8 hours home after the last day of the tournament, then you may need 5 nights.

Fury will be able to secure discounted room rates for most, if not all, of our travel games, and once we secure our block of rooms, parents will have a deadline to contact the hotel and secure a room from our block. You are not required to stay in our block or at our place of lodging, but it is highly recommended for team bonding purposes.

Question

Will you be offering Fund Raising opportunities to help offset the program/player costs? If so, what and when?

Answer

If players need to raise funds to help offset club dues and fees, they should take a hard look at our unique “NO ATHLETE LEFT BEHIND” Program. Whether you need a little help or a lot, we are convinced that our program can assist you in making that happen! Click Here to visit the program page now.
